There's one day every year when travellers and visitors to Barcelona feel like they're on another planet. And not just any old planet? but a planet of good vibes. This is a day when Barcelona is suffused with a different atmosphere and it seems that everybody heads to the streets. If it were the other way round and it was an alien who came to visit us on 23rd April, his report would read something like this: "a planet heavily populated by earthlings walking around with flowers and smiles on their faces; while others sit in little huts decked out with flags and scribble strange signs in books”.
The museum has been posting videos and data about the earth since April 18, but on Wednesday, April 22, the museum will be hosting an online celebration for Earth Day called EarthFest.
The all-day celebration will be a series of online festivities beginning at 10 a.m. ET. Some of the exciting, earthy activities include botany and climate science workshops (both for kids and adults to enjoy), live virtual guided flights over Earth and through space with real scientists, a YouTube watch party and live chat with museum scientists, and an Earth-themed online trivia night.
Activities like workshops, virtual tours, live Q & A sessions, and some watch parties are planned every hour on the hour from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET, including a virtual field trip around the world starting at noon. At 6 p.m. ET there will be a live virtual tour of Venus, Earth, and Mars with planetary geologist Martha Gilmore. The online EarthFest ends the day with a fun, adult-friendly trivia game and happy hour with the museum and NYC Trivia League at 8 p.m. ET.
This year’s rose is virtual and so is the book we’re offering you on this link. On our “Barcelona Literary Trails” you’ll discover the places linked to our city’s literary history. An excellent plan when the lockdown’s over!.
