Thai Pongal

Thai Pongal is a Hindu Festival that expresses gratitude to the sun god Surya gives a good harvest. It is very important for Sri Lanka and the Tamils of Southern India. During this festival, the Tamils will get up early to take a bath and put on new clothes. They will decorate the rooms with banana and mango leaves and draw designs on the floor with colored rice. While Pongal is a kind of sweet that is made of milk and rice, the traditional food of this festival.
