【Introduction】:Since her birth, the Shanghai “Music in the Summer Air” (MISA) Festival has created an oasis of music for everyone in this city.

Let us love music and share happiness. Let us make it as natural as breathing. Let us relish the easy and joyful atmosphere under the night sky in summer, in the close company of fellow music lovers. Since her birth, the Shanghai “Music in the Summer Air” (MISA) Festival has created an oasis of music for everyone in this city.
Shanghai, like other major cities or top orchestras around the world, has her own featured summer music festival. As an annual cross-genre music festival centering on classical music, for as long as two weeks in every July, there will be outdoor concerts in parks all over the city. This will be an occasion where various cultural elements: movies, animations, folk music, country music, jazz, and even pop music are fused together with classical music. Coupled with multimedia presentations, the charm of music will be thoroughly unleashed, driving people to communicate with each other more by sharing the enjoyment of listening to music.
MISA is co-chaired by Long Yu (Music Director of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra) and Charles Dutoit (Music Director of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra). Since 2010, MISA already cooperated with many maestros and groups from China and other countries, such as, the cellist Wang Jian, Tenor Shi Yijie, pianist Li Yundi, China Philharmonic Orchestra, Shanghai Quarter from domestic and Chris Botti, Lise de la Salle, three top female singer in the world - Laura Fygi, Jessye Norman, Ute Lamper the first time preformed in MISA all gave audience a wonderful and impressive night.
During the MISA period, in order to share the culture between east and west, developing the students’ artist spirit and improve the students’ overall quality appraisal to create a culture brand through the whole city. Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and Shanghai Symphony Orchestra already organized nearly 1000 student from primary, junior and high school and created opportunities to interact with the music maestros in the first year of MISA. Except providing more chances to communicate with maestros, MISA also provided more dream stages for Youth Orchestra, which created a better learning environment. This year’s MISA will also see the first installment of the “Shanghai International Youth Arts Festival”, a festival-within-a-festival dedicated to young audiences, in order to build a good platform for youth, through a different conventional approach to popularization the classical music form. At the same time, in order to allow fans to get closer and feel the music, MISA welcome all young people join to the volunteers’ team. Volunteers will have the opportunity to personally receive each artist, have face to face communication with masters and enrich their own experience.
