The new and magnificent theatre is located in the south of Viharamahadevi Park, which was built by China. The appearance seems like the Chinese characteristics. Actually, its design inspiration came from the lotus pond shape of Polonnaruwa ancient city, which is the new symbol of China-Sri Lanka friendship. There are 1288 seats in the main theatre, which including the library, open theater, training center, etc. The main theater is equipped with lifting stage and modern sound system, which is the most advanced theater in South Asia. There are often large scale performances here; the light is very beautiful in the evening.
