Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate expressed his excitement and said that 60 percent of Chinese tourists who visit Queensland love to tour the Gold Coast. Gold Coast sees the air route as an opportunity to explore the Chinese market.
Relevant data shows that about 186,000 Chinese tourists visit Gold Coast every year. During the course of one year from September 2013 to September 2014, Chinese tourists have contributed 591 million Australian Dollars to Queensland's tourism economy, maintaining China's status as Gold Coast's number one international tourist source.
