Milano Food City - from May 4th to 11th - will show the metropolis’s most delicious side! A week of appetising events will be held throughout the Lombardy capital to foster quality food and the culture of healthy nutrition.
Milan will be the stage for major events, in-depth analyses and debates on food-related issues, such as the legacy of Expo 2015, along with show cooking, food tastings, presentations and convivial eating experiences to nurture healthy consumption, social inclusion and cultural exchange.
Essentially, Milano Food City is the EXPO 2015 legacy with its focus on nutrition and its Food Policy approved by the municipal administration; it aspires to grow into a recognizable brand with its own logo, like a Fuorisalone of taste that involves the entire city.
The finalised programme of events depends on the upshot of the open-mindedness and cooperation with operators who wish to participate and who will have access to a dedicated web platform to each promote their own initiatives: they simply have to connect to the Expo in Città website http://en.expoincitta.com/, that can be accessed directly from smartphones, tablets and other devices, to insert their proposals in the database.
Furthermore they can access a whole range of information useful for contacting venues for events.
A great number of projects and events planned are planned, beginning with an opening night, on Wednesday, May 3rd, scheduled on the eve of Milano Food City. This event is still in the planning stage but will be open and free to the public.
For its 2017 edition, Tuttofood - the international exhibition hosted by Fiera Milano from 8th to 11th May - will expand out into the city districts such as the Arco della Pace, the Superstudiopiù via Tortona and The Mall in Porta Nuova, thanks to the Week&Food project with the participation of international chefs and the street food stations dotted far and wide.
With the ‘Sapore in Lombardia’ (Taste in Lombardy) programme the Lombardy Region will promote its entire territory, while with the FoodFriends project the Confcommercio Milan, Lodi, Monza and Brianza will encompass a large circuit of restaurateurs, from traditional to contemporary, to offer menu tastings in various venues, evening street parties and convivial events to raise awareness against food waste.
There will also be an entertaining flash mob connecting everyone - to be held on Saturday, May 6th - when the palazzi, courtyards and districts in Milan will open up for a wonderful collective dinner date.
