Sanya’s main roads, such as Sanya River Road and Yuechuan Road, are planted with kapok trees. The red petals regularly fall from the trees and flutter in the breeze, finally painting the grass with brilliant red.

The kapok flowers are also called “Hero Flowers,” both because of their vivid appearance and in honor of Ji Bei, the hero admired by the Li Minority people in Hainan Province.
There are other scenic spots, including Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone and Dongtian Park, that serve as top destinations in Sanya for viewing the kapok flowers.

The red kapok flowers are as radiant as fire burning on the boughs. Bees and birds are tempted by the fiery colors, which creates wonderful scenery for photographers.
