MI.TO Settembre Musica to Be Held in Milan and Turin This September

From September 3rd to September 21st, the MI.TO SettembreMusica will come back to Milan and Turin with a rich programme.

The theme of this year is 'Nature,' a source of inspiration for great composers, as well as incomparable material to create musical instruments.

This edition will see a total of 140 concerts - 70 for each city –by international musicians, alternating with performers from Milan and Turin.

The programme includes music of different epochs: Ambrosian, Baroque, Classicism, Romanticism, 20thCentury, in addition to 115 contemporary composers and ten Italian premières. The whole city will be involved, from the centre to the outskirts, touching all the pulsating neighborhoods of Milan and its surroundings.

The Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, directed by Ingo Metzmacher, with the participation of pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet (who will perform in Milan at the Teatro alla Scala on Sunday, September 3rd, for a concert titled "Quattro Paesaggi"- Four Landscapes), will introduce the festival.

Some participants of this edition are Semyon Bychkov, Riccardo Chailly, Mikko Franck, Gianandrea Noseda and Daniele Rustioni, Soloists Gauthier Capuçon, Julian Rachlin, Ian Bostridge, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Lilya Zilberstein, Gabriela Montero, Truls Mørk and Salvatore Accardo. And for the orchestras, The National Academy of Santa Cecilia, the National Symphony Orchestra of Rai, the Orchestra of the Regio Theatre in Turin and the Scala Philharmonic Orchestra

On the evening of September 10th, the great finale 'Choirs Day' will be held. During this special occasion, Piazza Duomo will be transformed in a stage for all people who want to become singers. The Italian Youth Choir invites all people who wish to try singing to join them on the stage. Predominantly classic pieces will be in the schedule. Each participant will be given a score. Anyone who is not familiar with reading music or considers himself ‘tone-deaf’ or shy can also find an opportunity to have fun: singing is good both for the body and mind!

Many events will cater to the young (from the age of two), especially during the weekends.

Great shows with little cost - afternoon concerts are free or may require a 5 Euro admission fee; evening concerts cost from 10 to 30 Euros and, finally, the concerts in the outskirts are free.

Participants can purchase tickets at the Teatro dal Verme or on online: Ticketone.it.
