216,000 Tourists Visited Sanya Over 2018 New Year's Holiday, Spent RMB 735m

Sanya received 216,000 tourists during the three-day New Year’s holiday, up 16.43 percent compared with the same period last year. Tourism revenue during the holiday reached 735 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.54 percent.

Scenic spots

Eight major scenic spots in Sanya altogether received a total of 251,200 visitors during the three-day holiday, up 23.7 percent compared with the same period last year.

Statistics showed that Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone received 63,500 visitors, a year-on-year increase of 26.33 percent. Sanya Romance Park and Tianyahaijiao Scenic Spot enjoyed 61,900 and 43,100 visitors respectively, a year-on-year increase of 29.5 percent and 10.25 percent. Wuzhizhou Island and Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise Forest Park welcomed a total of 26,800 and 26,000 visitors respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 8.09 percent and 52.29 percent. West Island, Luhuitou Park, and Dongtian Park had 11,100 visitors, 10,100 visitors and 8,700 visitors, respectively.

Hotel room occupancy

Sanya’s average hotel room occupancy rate for the holiday stood at 85.06 percent, up 0.62 percent year-on-year. Hotel room occupancy rates for Yalong Bay, Haitang Bay, Sanya Bay, Dadonghai, and downtown Sanya reached 88.20 percent, 86.91 percent, 87.16 percent, 89.60 percent, and 74.41 percent respectively.

Air and rail passenger throughput

Sanya Phoenix International Airport and Sanya Railway Station together handled a total of 322,400 passengers in the period from December 30th, 2017 to January 1st, 2018, a year-on-year increase of 9.88 percent. Sanya Phoenix International Airport handled 193,600 passengers, including 9,400 overseas passengers. The Sanya Railway Station received 128,800 passengers.

According to statistics, Sanya’s top five overseas tourist source countries and regions from December 30th, 2017 to January 1st, 2018 were Russia, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Kazakhstan. The city’s top five domestic tourist source provinces and cities were Beijing, Guangdong, Shanghai, Sichuan, and Shaanxi.
