Foreign tourists enjoy a VAT refund service which is named TAX REFUND (TAX FREE). Two companies in South Korea provide this service, namely Global Blue Korea and Tax Free Korea. Only when visitors consume 30,000 won at least in “TAX FREE” store within a day can they enjoy tax refund service. After the handling charge is deducted, the actual refund is about 8% of commodity prices.

The immigration control in Korea Customs is generally divided into “Nothing to Declare” channel and “Goods to Declare” channel (i.e., the green channel and the red channel). If the par value of cash held by you does not exceed $10,000, the total value of goods you carry is less than $600 (wine: under 1000 ml; cigarettes: under 200 pieces; perfume: under two ounces), and without carrying prohibited goods, including poison, guns, gunpowder, plants and animals, counterfeit currency or securities, counterfeit goods, radio set products, meat products, etc., you can take the green channel. Carrying valuables or leaving with prohibited items, you must fill out the “declaration form of passengers carrying articles”.
