【Introduction】:Currency of Wellington and Money Exchange
The currency unit of New Zealand is NZ$. The denominations of coins are 10 cents, 20 cents, 50 cents, 1 NZ dollar, 2 NZ dollars; the denominations of banknotes are 5 NZD, 10 NZD, 20 NZD, 50 NZD and 100 NZD.
Foreign currency can easily be exchanged for currency of New Zealand in the Currency Exchange points set in banks, some hotels, international airport and big cities. All main credit cards can be used in New Zealand. Traveler’s checks are accepted in hotels, banks, and some shops.
There is no limit for the amount of the foreign currency carried in or out New Zealand. But if the amount of cash is over 10,000 NZD, you have to fill in the “Border Cash Report.”
