The Nile River is a river flowing across Eastern and Northern Africa. Together with the Congo River in the middle Africa area and the Niger River in the western Africa, the three forms the biggest river system in Africa. The length of the Nile River is 6670 kilometers; it is the longest river in the world. In 2007, although Brazil scholars claimed the Amazon River was longer, it has not gained the recognition of that claim globally.
There are two branches of the Nile, the White Nile and the Blue Nile. The Blue Nile originating from Ethiopian highlands is the main source of water and nutrition for the downstream area of the Nile, while the White Nile is the longest between the two branches.
