Nanshun Crocodile Zoo

With wide varieties, there are over 3000 crocodiles in Nanshun Crocodile Zoo from all over the world and the monstrous ones are up to 30 kinds. They are from more than 20 countries including Siamosuchus from Thailand, Crocodylus niloticus from Africa, mutant malformed crocodiles, rare white alligators, Chinese Alligators which are the first-class national protected animals. The facilities and the size of the zoo are at the top of the country. What’s more, it is the largest indoor crocodile zoo in China.

It is located on the bank of the Dragon Boat Pool, and cooperates with the world’s largest Crocodile Farm & Zoo Samatpraka. Built since the beginning of 1996, the first-phase project was almost completed in January, 2000 and was open to the public.

At the beginning, the crocodile Zoo offers some ordinary activities like feeding the crocodiles, performing and selling souvenirs. It is gradually developed into a tourism resort with the popularization of science and the integration of the indoor and outdoor activities. With the serialization of crocodile museum, the variation of crocodile products, the thematisierung of education of science, interesting participant ways for visitors and regulation of the employees, the zoo gradually integrates tourism, observation, participation, education, shopping and tasting into one.

The Crocodile Zoo is mainly divided into the following areas: performance area, observing area, sea view area, children playground, crocodile museum, dining hall, crocodile leather product market. The zoo covers an area of over 40 thousand square meters with an area of 25 thousand square meters outside the hall and almost 20 thousand square meters covered area. Besides four large-scale observing pool, there are also various crocodile sculptures or models with different sizes for children to play with. Meanwhile, there are also two pavilions for sea viewing. Inside the hall, there are leisure area for sea viewing, performance area, observing area of over 20 kinds of crocodiles around the world and multi-functional halls for video showing. The crocodile museum shows us the whole process of the crocodiles from nest building, birth to grow up in all respects.
