Dianchi Lake, also known as the Kunming Lake, is the largest freshwater lake in Yunnan, and is also the sixth largest freshwater lake in China. The lake is magnificent, hence being a must-see for tourists in Kunming. You can walk by the lake, take a boat, or feed birds in winter; you can also climb upon Dragon Gate and overlook the fantastic view of Dianchi Lake.
Dianchi Lake is located at the foot of the Western Hills south-west of Kunming city in Yunnan Province. These years local government began to treat the lake water, and water quality increases significantly, therefore the black-headed gulls reappear in the lake.
You can walk along the viewing path on the east coast of Dianchi Lake, and locals often feed black-headed gulls here in winter. Across the road is West Mountain Forest Park, and Haigeng Park is just nearby. Take the cableway to West Mountain Dragon Gate and overlook the panoramic view of five-hundred-mile Dianchi Lake.
