Holyrood Palace was built in 1498 by James V, this fine baroque palace is closely linked to the long history of Scotland. The palace is best known for being the residence for the Scottish Queen Mary. The Queen Mary had two weddings at Holyrood Palace, and she witnessed the assassination of her private secretary David Rizzio by her first husband Lord Darnley at a small dinner party. Near the palace is the vast Holyrood Park (Holyrood Park), it is a suitable place for walking.
