Huaqing Palace, also known as Huaqing Chi Lishan, located in the east of Xi’an 30 miles away, closed to “the eighth major miracle of the world” -- Qin Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses. Thanks to the unchanged hot spring, Huaqing Chi had been to a popular scenic spot for royals to visit and bathe at. According to the history, King You of Zhou built a sub-temple. Then, the sub-temple was expanded multiple times in Qin, Han, Sui and Tang Dynasties. Each year in April, the large-scale historical play of its kind in China, titled Everlasting Regret is performed here with the real mountain and water as background. It vividly illustrates the love story about Emperor Xuanzong and his imperial Concubine Yang.
