Hokkaido University is initially opened as Sapporo Agricultural College in 1876. Its historical buildings spread around the elm and gingko trees attracted many tourists. The “Elm Forest” located to the left of the main entrance of the University was once the sericulture classroom and is now an information center. We recommend you get a campus map here to help you walk through the campus. The campus is large and one can easily make a day of walking through it. The Hokkaido University Museum which is free is a must for you. You can see exhibits of scientific samples such as nipponosaurus and specimens of cattle skeletal structure here.
The Hokkaido University Campus Walking Tour, which introduces the highlights of the Hokkaido University campus grounds, will be held every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from June 1 to October 30, 2016.
