State roads through Chongqing are 210,319,212,318 and 326.Chongqing has also built ring road with seven highways which are Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway, Chongqing Airport Expressway, long Wan Expressway, Yu Fu Highway, adjacent Chongqing Expressway, Chongqing Hechuan Chongqing South Expressway, Chongqing and Guizhou highway, Qi - Wan Expressway, then Chongqing Expressway, WanKai

highway, Chongqing Nanchuan section Yuxiang highway, Shanghai-Chengdu Expressway Dianjiang to Zhongxian segment,Chongqing Hechuan to wusheng south highway segment, YuWan Expressway Chongqing inner ring Expressway. The highways being built are Yuxiang highway Nanchuan to Hunan section, the outer ring highway, Wanyi highway, Shanghai-Chengdu

Expressway Shizhu to Zhongxian section.

In the latest national expressway network plan 7918,there are five roads that go through Chongqing, which are Chongqing to Shanghai, Shanghai to Chengdu, Baotou to Maoming, Chongqing to Kunming, and Lanzhou to Haikou.

Synchronized with the development of Chongqing highway construction, the bridge construction has also developed rapidly, Chongqing is also known as the "Capital of Bridge of China.” Chongqing has completed 20 bridges on the Yangtze River and 28bridges on the Jiangling River.

In the main city of Chongqing there are many public transportation options, including buses, light rails, subways, river cableway, cable cars, and river ferry. The preferred method of public transportation is rail transit and buses; it’s rare to see bicycles or electric vehicles on the road due to the mountainous terrain.

River Cableway

Chongqing city has two unique river cableways: The Jialing Cableway, from Yuzhong Cangbai Road, across over the Jialing River, connected to the Jiangbei District Jinsha Street and the Yangtze River cableway, from Yuzhong Xinhua Road, across the Yangtze River to new Street on the South Bank area.

Rail Transit

As of 2015, Chongqing Rail Transit line consists of four lines: line 1, 2, 3, and6. Line 1 and 6 are conventional heavy-rail subways, line 2 and 3 are heavy-capacity monorails. Covering nine districts in the main city of Chongqing, with 120 stations, and a system length of 202 km. The system length ranked fifth in Mainland China, and number 1 in Western China. As of 2016, there are 4 lines under construction, line 4,5,10, and Circle Lineas well as a North extension of Line 3,all of which is scheduled to be completed by 2018.A system network of 18 lines is planned.
