Short term travel between the UK and Ireland (including Northern Ireland) on a basis of a single visa will be permitted, according to the British-Irish Visa Scheme promotion event held in the cities of Beijing, Guangzhou, and Chengdu in February 2015.
“Ireland has accepted a growing number of visa applications in 2014, in which 90 percent of visitors can get their visas”, said Catherine Smith, a visa officer of the Irish Embassy, and Stephen Cox, a visa officer of the British Embassy at the event.
A representative of Ireland Tourism Bureau went on to explain by saying that Irish tourism has seen great prospects from Chinese tourists in 2014, with tour routes to Ireland growing by 30 percent over last year.
Cosponsors of the event were the Ireland Tourism Bureau, British Tourism Bureau, British Airways, the UK, and Irish Embassy.
