【Introduction】:The Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau (GBCVB) proudly participated, along with its members, in One Boston Day
The Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau (GBCVB) proudly participated, along with its members, in One Boston Day. Mayor Walsh and the City of Boston conceived of One Boston Day as a day "for individuals to come together, for businesses and organizations to display their humanity, and for random acts of kindness" to take back the legacy of April 15. The anniversary now transcends somber reflection and is a celebration of Boston's enduring strength and resilient spirit. Every year on April 15 these characteristics of civic pride will be exemplified across the Greater Boston community. Mayor Walsh describes the mission as, "providing acts of kindness, helping people, doing community service, it's a day to truly rally around the City of Boston."
On the morning of April 15, GBCVB President & CEO Patrick Moscaritolo, senior Vice-President Cathy Doran, and Director of visitors Services Diane Dinunzio greeted visitors at the Boston Common Visitors Center and thanked them for coming to Boston. In addition, they distributed gift packets to 10 visitors as a gesture of appreciation and generosity.
The GBCVB also spread the word across the Boston and Cambridge tourism industry and the response from members was overwhelming. Here are just a few examples: The InterContinental Boston gave 1,000 rewards club points to guests checking-in on April 15; the Lenox Hotel hosted Captain Paul Ivens and BPD District D-4 for dinner; the Onyx Hotel provided $25 food and beverage gift cards to all police and fire personnel staying at the hotel; Paradise Bakery sent breakfast to their local firehouse; Legal Sea Foods delivered lunch to the Fenway Firehouse; The Museum of Fine Arts was free after 4pm; and the Old South Meeting House offered free admission all day.
"We were so pleased to participate in Mayor Walsh's One Boston Day celebration on April 15 and we are already planning along with our members activities for April 15, 2016," Bureau CEO Patrick Moscaritolo said.
