Chengdu International Peach Blossom Festival Inaugurates Sichuan’s “Flowers Admiration Season”

The 30th International Peach Blossom Festival opened in Chengdu on March 10th. So far, Sichuan Province has also begun its “flowers admiration season”. Peach blossoms, cherry blossoms and rape flowers competing to bloom lets local people experience more of the spring atmosphere. And the ecological tourism of this kind will drive the local economic development.

As an important activity of 2016 Sichuan Flowers (Fruits) Ecological Tourism Festival, the Peach Blossom Festival this year set up six activity themes including ecology, wealth, game, culture, romance and sports. A total of 48 activities under these themes will be held in about 50 days’ festival. A variety of cultural activities including a large-scale aerial photography event of Longquan and tent film experience etc.

Since March, festival activities with themes of flowers and fruits have been held around Sichuan. 18 cities such as Yibin, Chengdu, Panzhihua and 45 districts such as Changning County, Xindu District are involved in the activities. Last year, Sichuan Province achieved direct income of 65.8 billion yuan from ecological tourism and social income of 186 billion yuan driven by ecological tourism. Ecological tourism played a great role in promoting rural economic development, functioning as a bridge of turning beautiful sceneries into tourism income.
