To get the French national holiday off to a resounding start, trumpets and bugles herald the arrival of the President of the French Republic at the top of the world’s most beautiful avenue. The drums ring out as elite units of the French army parade down the avenue lined with crowds of onlookers.
The July 14th parade along the Champs-Elysées is the highlight of the national holiday celebrations. Every year, in the morning, all eyes are on the parade of French military regiments. Later in the day, the focus shifts to the eagerly-awaited fireworks display at the Eiffel Tower.

10.10 am : arrival of the President of the French Republic at Avenue de Friedland. Welcome by Chief of Defence Staff, and the Military Governor of Paris. Review of troops.
10.25 am : tribute paid to the President of the French Republic.
10.30 am : opening event.
10.44 am : opening fly-past
10.54 am : parade of troops on foot
11.36 am : Motorized troops and parade of mounted troops,
11.51 am : closing event.
11.55 am : Departure of the President of the French Republic.
