There is giant news coming out of the U.K. “The BFG” (Big Friendly Giant) has hit theaters and families are lining up to take a look at this Roald Dahl classic and beloved tale.

VisitBritain is making a big investment into visitation based on the movie. The organization has budgeted £350,000 on a social media campaign to promote BFG locations around Britain to audiences in France, Canada, Australia and Russia and to sell the U.K.’s “giant” credentials to be a family-friendly destination.

Dahl’s books have long been popular with families and professor David Rudd explains why in an article in the Guardian.

“We’re a couple of generations on now and people want to take his stories onward to share with their own kids and grandkids,” said Rudd, who is a professor of children’s literature at the University of Roehampton. “Those who weren’t keen on reading stories to their children don’t mind reading Dahl because his stories are so rewarding in terms of the response they get from their child audience. The vulgar words and the rollicking, fast-paced stories are a dear to read.”
