Seoul’s Incheon International Airport goes to great lengths to prevent boredom, offering some of the most unique pre and post-flight experiences in the world – among them, ice skating.
If you have ever needed to practice a spin or a double axel before boarding your next flight, this is the place for you. It’s open daily and cost is about $5.
Haute Culture in Helsinki
Visitors to Helsinki-Vantaa Airport in Finland can get a dose of contemporary Finnish art with a walk through its stunning art gallery. Monthly exhibitions means there’s a fresh dose of Finnish culture each time you pass through.
The gallery is at Gate 37 and is free for visitors.
Tokyo’s Star Power
Japan's Tokyo Haneda Airport is quite possibly the only one in the world home to its own planetarium. Those passing through can grab coffee and snacks and observe space while waiting for a flight.
The planetarium is located in the International Terminal on the 5th floor and costs about $6 for entry.
Stellar Dining in Stuttgart
You will never have to regret leaving Germany without enjoying some haute cuisine if you are flying out of Stuttgart. The airport is home to the only airport restaurant with a Michelin star. Top Air combines views of the Swabian Mountains with veal tartare – not bad for a last meal.

Looking for a last-minute hair-do before you travel? The best place for that is Galileo Galilei Airport in Pisa, Italy where visitors will find the Diamond Hair Spa and Salon. It’s one of the first airports to have a hairdresser and visitors can suck up some time trimming their locks emerge with a whole new do before vacation.

Kids Keep Busy in Hong Kong
Ambitious youngsters will love a layover in Hong Kong International Airport. The Dream Come True Educational Park allows kids to explore different jobs. Before you head home, try out a career as an astronaut or a doctor.
The park is located on Terminal 2 on level 6 and entrance is approximately $11 for kids and $20 for adults.
Staying Zen in Frankfurt
For those who love yoga, Frankfurt Airport in Germany offers two new yoga rooms for passengers who need a dose of zen before boarding their next flight. Entrance is free and mats are provided.
The facility is open 24 hours a day and there is one in Terminal 1 and in Terminal 2.
Spa Day in Doha
Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar, is taking zen to the next level with a full on spa experience. There are swimming pools, hydrotherapy tubs, squash courts, a gym, a spa and showers in the Vitality Centre. Pamper yourself between flights or before heading home to truly arrive back from your travels relaxed.
The center is located above the Airport Hotel between concourse A and B. Entry fees are also minimal at around $40.
It’s Playtime in Zurich
Long layovers are no problem for families flying through Zurich Airport with children. There’s plenty to keep them busy inside the unique playrooms full of toys, video games, craft workshops and more.
The playrooms are free of charge and located at gates A and E.
