New High-Speed Rail to Shorten Xiamen-Hangzhou Travel Time to 4 Hours

Currently, it takes about 6.5 hours to travel from Xiamen to Hangzhou via G-type (高铁)high speed railway. That time will be shortened by two hours upon completion of a new high-speed rail linking Hangzhou to Wenzhou. Work on the new rail line is scheduled to be completed by 2022.

With a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour, the new high-speed rail will quickly cross the more than 300 kilometers from Hangzhou to Wenzhou.

Starting from June 26th, residents on Xiamen Island who plan to travel from Xiamen to Hangzhou by train no longer need to bother going to Xiamen North Railway Station.

A new train service linking Xiamen Railway Station and Hangzhou East Railway Station has been launched.

The newly launched G1680 takes 6 hours and 18 minutes to travel from Xiamen to Hangzhou.
