Sanya Resident & Visitor Information Center Goes High-Tech

Visitors to the Sanya Resident and Visitor Information Center now have a chance to try out high-tech gaming and video systems that are used in films, as the newly upgraded center has been equipped with a handful of high-tech devices including a holographic projection system, a somatosensory system, infrared sensor systems, and virtual reality scenic spots.

At the “Digital Sanya” area, tourists can use touch screens to learn about Sanya travel, including information about dining, accommodations, tours, shopping, and entertainment.

The new “Sanya River” display area uses an overhead projector to display the flowing river, leaves, fish, and other marine creatures on the river floor. The system uses infrared sensor technology to make the virtual fish swim away as people approach them.

Visitors can learn about the progress of Sanya’s “Double Repair” construction development with somatosensory technology at the “Touring Sanya” area. The Sanya government will focus on 174 projects this year, including city revamping, ecological recovery, “Sponge City” construction, and the installation of an underground pipeline system.

Real-time information on eight major scenic spots in Sanya is displayed on eight pillars in the exhibition hall. Using virtual-reality technology, visitors can take an immersive virtual tour of the scenic spots under the guidance of a virtual tour guide.

In the “Holographic Projection” display area, three holographic sections created by laser beams show visitors vivid scenes about Sanya’s past, present, and future.

The first scene shows performances about the legend of Luhuitou and the culture of Luobi Cave with a backdrop composed of Li and Miao villages.

The second scene displays the Miss World beauty pageant, which has been held in Sanya six times.

The third scene displays a marine show with a backdrop of Atlantis Sanya and its Aquaventure Water Park, which will feature more than 2,600 marine species and 60,000 sea animals. The soft opening date for the Atlantis Sanya is set for this July.
