St. Petersburg: Free trains for 2018 FIFA World Cup fans

700 trains, whose total capacity is 400 thousand people will be assigned for free travels for fans between Russian cities during the FIFA 2018 World Cup.

It was said by Maksim Sokolov, Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation at the meeting of Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Committee on Regulations and organization of parliamentary activity.

Additional train stops will be provided for convenience of fans. 31 railway stations will be involved in the maintenance of these special fan’s trains. Currently these trains are going through modernization. 18 of them have already undergone this procedure and other 13 are expecting it. Modernization is carried out under investment programs of JSC «Russian Railways». Maksim Sokolov also mentioned experience, which was gained on preparation and holding the Confederations Cup 2017, when 52 thousand fans moved with help of 262 free modern trains.
