The 9th Cultural Festival of the Poet Sage (February 11 to March 5) is to be held in the Chengdu Du Fu Thatched Cottage, China. All guests from around the world are warmly welcomed.

The Chengdu Du Fu Thatched Cottage, located by the Blossom Bathing Brook of Chengdu City, covers an area of 190,000 square meters and is the former residence of Du Fu, a great poet of the Tang Dynasty of China. In the winter of AD 759, Du Fu and his family moved to Chengdu. Beside the beautiful Blossom Bathing Brook, he built a thatched cottage called the Chengdu Thatched Cottage. Du Fu lived here for nearly 4 years. Of all the poems he wrote here, more than 240 are still read in classrooms and referenced on a daily basis. These monumental poems endow the Cottage with profound cultural significance, making it a sacred location in the history of Chinese Literature. The Cottage is the biggest, most well-preserved, best known and most distinctive relic pertaining to Du Fu in China.

The Cultural Festival of the Poet Sage (a part of the cultural activities of visiting the Cottage on Human Day)

Beginning in the Qing Dynasty, scholars gathered in the Thatched Cottage and visited Du Fu on "Human Day" (the 7th day of the first month of the traditional lunar year), which gradually became a local custom that modern citizens in Chengdu often follow. On this special day, the local residents go to the Thatched Cottage to enjoy the plum blossoms and pray for blessings with the whole family. With a record of about 30 sessions, it is considered a cultural festival delivering the most traditional culture and regional characteristics of modern Chengdu.

In recent years, more and more international flights are being launched to Chengdu. Tourists from all over the world, such as the UK, the US and France, can take a non-stop flight to Chengdu on the weekend.
