Sanya Airport Handles 520k Passengers over 2018 CNY Holiday

The city of Sanya enjoyed a tourist boom during this year’s Spring Festival holiday. The Sanya Phoenix International Airport handled a total of 2,529 aircraft movements and transported more than 520,000 travelers during the week-long holiday, up 0.9 percent and 6.4 percent year-on-year, respectively.

On February 17th, 2018, the airport broke its own record for daily passenger flow, handling 366 aircraft movements and more than 72,000 passengers in a single day.

During the CNY holiday, occupancy rates on most domestic flights reached about 95 percent. Flights to Sanya and out of the city came mainly from Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Chengdu, and Chongqing.

The airport took measures to ensure smooth trips for travelers. During the CNY holiday, the airport allocated 705 bigger planes to cope with the passenger flow, a 33.8 percent increase year-on-year.
