Berlin, 21 August 2018 New long-haul service to Berlin: From June 2019, American Airlines will operate a non-stop flight between Philadelphia and Berlin. This will make the German capital easier to reach for travellers from North America. A Boeing 767-300 will be used on the route.

The establishment of long-haul routes to Berlin is picking up speed“, says Burkhard Kieker, CEO of visitBerlin. „Philadelphia is an important hub for flights to the USA and Canada. visitBerlin will do everything we can to make the new route a success.“

The US is the most visited overseas market and, right after Great Britain, the most important international market for the tourism and congress metropolis Berlin. In the first half of 2018, more than 200,000 visitors (+ 2.2 percent) came to the German capital from the United States. They accounted for around 560,000 overnight stays (+1.3 percent) in Berlin's hotels and accommodation facilities. With an increase of 10 percent in overnight stays (77,800) and 5.7 percent in the number of guests (around 25,000), Canada is also one of the fastest-growing intercontinental markets. Visitors from the US and Canada stayed in the city for around three days, significantly longer than the average guest, who spends about 2.4 days in Berlin.
