Non-Stop Direct Flight Opens Between Sanya and Zhukovsky

At 5:10 p.m. Beijing time on February 21st, 2019, the inaugural non-stop flight from Russian’s Zhukovsky to Sanya landed at the Sanya Phoenix International Airport with 306 passengers aboard.

The regular non-stop flight service is operated by the Sanya Friendship International Travel Agency Co., Ltd. and supported by the Bureau of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports of Sanya City, and the Commerce Department of Sanya City.

Operated by Russia’s I-Fly Airlines, this regular direct air route runs twice a week between Sanya and Zhukovsky.

In addition, two more direct air routes from Russia including the Kazan-to-Sanya and Ufa-to-Sanya air routes are scheduled to commence on February 23rd and 26th, 2019 respectively. These three air routes are expected to bring additional 70,000 inbound tourists to Sanya annually.

In 2018, more than 200,000 Russian tourists travelled to Sanya to enjoy the city’s sunshine, clean air, and white beaches. The growing number of the inbound tourist arrivals from the Russian-speaking countries to Sanya has further boosted the expansion of Sanya’s overseas air routes. Since the direct flights between Russia and Sanya resumed in 2016, Sanya has gradually opened more direct flights to Russia. Sanya now has 11 international air routes connecting to 10 Russian-speaking destinations.

Russia has been one of Sanya’s most important tourist source markets. In 2019, the Bureau of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports of Sanya City will send delegations to attend the Moscow International Tourism Fair and the Moscow International Leisure Tourism Fair, where they will organize a series of tourism promotional campaigns, with an aim of further enhancing the popularity of Sanya as a tropical tourist destination in the Russian market. In addition, Sanya is also planning to intensify and open air routes from Novosibirsk to Sanya in near future. These flights will allow more Russian tourists to come to Sanya more frequently and conveniently.
