【Introduction】:In the first five months of 2019, Hong Kong International Airport received 31.5 million passengers, Aircraft take-off and landing volume amounted to 177665 sorties. Hong Kong Airport will continue to upgrade passenger facilities, including 15 additional high-speed Wi-Fi districts will be added at the end of the month.
According to the Sing Tao Daily Website, the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) announced on the 16th, Hong Kong Airport Passenger Traffic and Take-off and Landing Volume Increased in May. Passenger traffic increased by 3.2% to 6.2 million passengers, aircraft take-off and landing volume increased by 0.9% to 36305 sorties, and cargo traffic decreased by 7.3% to 405,000 tons annually. Besides, Hong Kong Airport will continue to upgrade passenger facilities, including 15 additional high-speed Wi-Fi districts will be added at the end of the month.
Hong Kong International Airport's transfer/transit passenger volume jumped by 10% in May, driving the growth of passenger volume in that month, among them, passenger traffic roundtrip to Taiwan increased significantly. In May, import freight volume fell 9% compared with the same month in 2018, while both export and transit freight volume fell 7%.
In the first five months of 2019, Hong Kong International Airport received 31.5 million passengers, with a take-off and landing volume of 17765 sorties, increased 2.6% and 1.0% respectively from the same period last year. Compared with the same period in 2018, freight volume fell by 6.3% to 1.9 million tons.
Over the past 12 months, Hong Kong airport passenger traffic has reached 75.5 million passengers and aircraft take-off and landing volume has reached 429,465 sorties, increased 2.4% and 1.1% respectively from the same period last year, while cargo volume has decreased by 2.7% to 5 million tons compared with the same period in 2018.
Bian Jiazhen, chief information officer of the AAHK, said that the AAHK would continue to upgrade passenger facilities. One of the projects is to increase the number of high-speed Wi-Fi zones on the departure floor from 15 to 30 by June 2019, and 600 additional junctions are expected to be put into service by 2020 to enhance the overall Wi-Fi coverage.
The Airport Authority also announced that the broad aviation network of Hong Kong International Airport has been further expanded. Eznis Airways has recently begun operating at the airport, providing three flights a week roundtrip to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, since June 3.
