There will be numerous and very varied events in Florence to celebrate the last night of the year, New Year's Eve.
Forget the concert in Piazzale Michelangelo .... the 2020 New Year will be different. Inspired by the date, here are 20 events (for adults and children, florentines, tourists and occasional visitors ....) that include music and circus performances, gospel and acrobats.
F-light, the Christmas light show, collaborates and promotes this special night of the 31 dedicated to the moon ... in fact, this year in Florence we have a Moon F-light, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the man on the moon.
The events will begin the morning of the 31st at the Museo Novecento, with free guided tours, until 10 pm. There will also be guided tours in the evocative Murate spaces, with a path of the prison as it was.
If you love cinema, don’t miss the films about the moon in the room above the Infopoint in Piazza Stazione 4a. And in the same complex, in the Great Cloister of Santa Maria Novella, there will be many events for children from 5 pm: readings, workshops and the show of Venti Lucenti: La stagione dei fiori.
Let’s talk about squares, the perfect locations to celebrate the last night of the year in company and outdoors: in Piazza Signoria the Cirk Fantastik presents the show Vertigini Circensi - surely with a high dose of suggestion!
Soul, jazz and R&B in Piazza San Lorenzo. An ensemble conducted by Maestro Lanzetta will give the classic touch to this day, in front of Santa Maria Novella.
Very loved and very Christmas, the gospel in Piazza del Duomo. In the name of irony, the artists who can be seen in Piazza Santissima Annunziata, between music and comedy.
Piazza del Carmine will be the perfect place for the youngest with Capodanno sulla Luna: rap by Radio Bruno.
Staying in Oltrarno you can meet the mad music of two New Orleans-style marchin' bands.
The new ice skating rink of the Fortezza da Basso is also an ideal place to spend the last night of the year, organized by Circo Nero. If you love to dance, don’t miss Dancing in the Moonlight, the dance evening that will take place in Piazza Poggi.
Last but not least, this year we will have the animation of the logge: Loggia del Grano for children, Loggia del Pesce with RDF music and Loggia del Porcellino for dancing with the 70s and 80s hits.
We recommend to avoid reaching the center by car. The tram is a great choice, also because from 7pm to 11pm there will be "itinerant" concerts by young musicians on the T1 and T2 lines. The tram is the ideal way to reach Scandicci, where the traditional concert is held in Piazza della Resistenza with Bandabardò.
