China is moving into the era of cruise. As global cruise market is in downturn, China, the rising star, is getting attention from worldwide cruise giants. The increase of China’s middle class brings in rigid tourism demand, which makes China a potential cruise giant. Many large cruise companies have accelerated their arrangement in China this year and China’s cruise industry is growing fast. In a time of abundant products and changeable demands, China’s cruise industry, as a new business, is faced with opportunities and challenges now and in the future.

On the summit, Deputy Secretary General Yan Han made a speech themed “Cities Make Cruise Tourism Better”. Cruise companies and travel agents should not be the only participants of cruise tourism. Cities and ports are important cornerstones for the development of cruise tourism. For cruise companies, attraction of home ports and cities means convenient customs brokerage, loose investment environment, low operation cost, broad development space, smooth transportation to airports and highways, and so on.

For cruise tourist, attraction of home ports and cities means convenient transportation transfer and switch, easy access to tourism information service, friendly atmosphere, top-ranking attractions, abundant tourism projects and recreation facilities, attractive culture, distinctive commodities, safe destination environment and so on. Cruise tourism involves many industries. It can’t develop without policy support, cultivation of professional talents, or ancillary facilities construction of port cites.
