【Introduction】:During the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF) Chongqing Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit 2016, Los Angeles has been chosen by the WTCF Member Committee to host the WTCF Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit 2017 on September 19.

The summit was held in the Yuelai convention center of Chongqing on September 19th to 20th, which deeply discussed the new trend of world city tourism regarding the issue of “Urban Development and Shared Economy”. As one of the keynote speakers, Ernest Wooden Jr., the President & Chief Executive Officer of Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board (LATCB), made a speech on several aspects such as "How Does the Shared Economy Change the Tourists' Experience of Los Angeles", "How does the City Government of Los Angeles Respond to the Rise of Shared Economy and the influence of Dramatic Change on Destination Marketing Agencies". Over 400 representatives from all over the world attended the conference.


Members are voting on the host cities

During the summit, the First Session of the Second Council Meeting of WTCF was held. President and vice president of the second session of council were elected and Mr. Ernest Wooden Jr. had reappointed as the vice president. "As one of the founder members of WTCF, I'm so glad to witness the development of WTCF for the last five years." said Mr. Wooden, "It's such a great honor for Los Angeles to host the 2017 Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit, I'm representing the 18 million residents of L.A. to welcome representatives of Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit 2017. We believe that this international non-governmental organization launched by Beijing will surely develop into a more international and high-rank tourism organization. As a tourism city focusing on destination marketing, Los Angeles hopes to attract more Chinese and global tourist and become an icon of international tourism city."


Los Angeles is chosen as host city of 2017 Summit

Song Yu, Secretary-General of WTCF, congratulated L.A. as the new host 2017 Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit. He said: “As one of the sponsor cities of WTCF, L.A. has been contributing to the development of WTCF. It is a common hope for all members that 2017 Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit will be held in L.A.. WTCF hopes that L.A. will make full use of its advantages, actively explore a market oriented mode for the summit, and harvest more successful collaboration between tourism cities and tourism enterprise. We hope L.A. will hold a influential summit and promote sustainable development of world tourism cities.


Los Angeles City view 

Founded in 2012, WTCF is the first city-based international tourism organization in the world. Headquartered in Beijing, it now has 174 members from five continents, including 117 city members and 57 tourism enterprises.

Other bidding cities for 2017 summit were Penang of Malaysia, Moscow of Russia, and Thessaloniki of Greece. L.A. was stood out with advantages in many aspects and finally elected to host the 2017 summit. Meanwhile, Qingdao of China has chosen to host the 2018 Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit.
