The WTCF held a seminar on tourism data management in Beijing on December 15. At the seminar, European scholar Karl Wober gave a detailed introduction to the European City Marketing and Management Information System.

Karl Wober, expert of the WTCF expert commitee, is president of Modul University Vienna, a renowned tourism college in Austria. He introduced the tourism marketing and management information system developed by him and his team to Chinese tourism scholars, officials, tourism journalists and college students at the meeting.
The information system is designed to be a information sharing platform for tourism industry, where tourism practitioners, scholars, and officials can exchange data and other information so as to make the best decisions.
Wober’s speech was received warmly by the attendants, who raised many questions concerning data collection, analysis, application of the system and its relevance to Chinese tourists.
