World Tourism Cities XL

On March 2, 2022, the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF) and the Tourism Research Centre, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (TRC-CASS) jointly released the World Tourism Economy Trends Report (2022) in Beijing. Centered on the structural recovery of the world tourism economy, the results released in the Report presents a comprehensive summary and study on the tourism recovery around the world, changes in regional tourism development patterns, tourism development performances of the T20 countries (the top 20 countries in the world in terms of total tourism revenue), and innovative tourism development strategies of key cities, amidst the pandemic. Moreover, it forecasts four tendency changes in the structural recovery of world tourism in 2022, inspiring the further development of world tourism, and offering decision-making references and intellectual support to governments, cities and the tourism industry.

On 3 September 2021, as the only summit forum held by international organizations during the 2021 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), 2021 WTCF Beijing Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit & World Conference on Tourism Cooperation and Development opened in Beijing with the theme of "Revitalizing World Tourism and Energizing City Development". It was held by the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF) together with the world's major international organizations and tourism institutions.

In March, 2021, the  World Tourism Cities Federation was established, with 58 members initially. Among them, 47 were institutional members. In September of the same year, WTCF Inauguration Ceremony & Beijing Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit was held in Beijing with theme being “Better City Life through Tourism”.

European tourism sector is booming. According to the European Tourism Commission s latest report "European Tourism 2017 - Trends & Prospects ", 28 out of the 30 destinations registered growth in the arrivals of foreign tourists in the first half of 2017 - some even in the double-digit range.

September 19-20, 2017, Los Angeles – WTCF Los Angeles Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit 2017 was grandly held. The Summit, themed “Impact of Globalization on World Tourism City Development”, attracted about 400 delegates from 51 countries and 87 cities.
