The WTCF and the PATA jointly released the World Tourism Destination Potential Competitive Index Report (2025), analyzing the “potential stocks” of global tourism cities in the future and focusing on the transformation of potential resources. This report systematically proposed the concept of “cities with competitive potential” for the first time and evaluated the competitive potential of emerging global tourist cities from ten dimensions, providing strategic basis and implementation paths for the development of urban tourism, which has attracted widespread attention from the industry.
This report conducts a systematic assessment of 100 representative tourist cities worldwide, covering 70 countries and regions. The report evaluation system conducts in-depth analysis from six dimensions: city popularity, industrial prosperity, city intelligence, tourism safety, economic contribution and tourist satisfaction, relying on 32 sub-indices and 61 specific indicators. All the weights of the indicators are determined by international experts using the Delphi method, ensuring the scientific nature and international comparability of the evaluation results.
The World Conference on Tourism Cooperation and Development 2024 commenced at the China National Convention Center in Beijing on September 12. At the conference, the World Tourism Cities Development Report (2023) was officially released, providing intellectual support and sharing experiences for the sustainable development of the tourism cities worldwide.
