In order to further expand the influence of WTCF Asia Pacific Tourism Conference and boost the tourism development of China and Penang State, the Tourism Expo of WTCF Asia Pacific Tourism Conference was held at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre in Penang on March 26th, 2017. Mr. Danny Law, Chairman of Penang State Tourism Development Committee; Mr. Song Yu, Secretary-General of WTCF; and Mr. Zhang Lingjie, Assistant President of CITS, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.
At the opening ceremony, the host Mr. Danny Law, Chairman of Penang State Tourism Development Committee, represented Penang and welcomed the representatives and honored guests from over 20 countries and tourism cities. He also introduced the agenda of this tourism conference in detail.
Mr. Song Yu, Secretary-General of WTCF stressed in his speech that the building of the Tourism Corridor is an important measure taken by WTCF to boost tourism city cooperation and development. The aim of this measure is to catalyze the marketization process, standardization, and convenience of the world tourism industry through the building of the Node Cities along the “Belt and Road Initiative” route.
Mr. Zhang Lingjie, Assistant President of CITS, said in his speech that the communication between countries lies in the close relations between the people. In order to build close relations between the people, they first need to communicate to better understand each other. We should positively boost the tourism cooperation between tourism organizations and countries and regions along the “Belt and Road Initiative” route, and embark on our work around the five aspects: interaction of tourism policies, smooth flow of tourists, cross-border tourism on top agenda, benign tourism investment and financing, and smooth tourism interaction. Finally, with the force of the tourism industry, we can make our world more peaceful, expedite the progress of the world, and enhance the understanding and common interests of different nations on economy and culture.
During the expo of that day, WTCF set up an independent exhibition booth, delivered its leaflets to professional visitors, and recommended featured tourism resources and products of its members to visitors. In addition, more than ten organizations including Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development, Seoul Tourism Organization, Hainan Tourism Development Commission, Kunming Municipal Tourism Development Commission, Chengdu Tourism Bureau, Penang State Tourism Development Committee, Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH), CITS etc. also participated in the Tourism Expo and set up exhibition booths to promote their tourism resources and conduct commercial negotiations.
After the Tourism Expo ended, Mr. Danny Law, Chairman of Penang State Tourism Development, Mr. Song Yu, Secretary-General of WTCF, and Mr. Zhang Lingjie, Assistant President of CITS, were interviewed together by reporters from China and abroad.
