World Tourism Cities Development Report (2022) to Be Released Soon

The World Conference on Tourism Cooperation and Development 2023, co-hosted by the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF) and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, will be held in Beijing on September 2 and themed "New Trends · New Business Format · New Consumption: Jointly Creating the New Prosperity of Culture & Tourism." During the conference, WTCF will release the World Tourism Cities Development Report (2022), its latest research outcome.

In 2022, the global economy ushered into a period marked by gradual recovery. Despite the resurgence of COVID-19, the recovery of the global tourism industry remained fairly fast. As the major tourist sources and destinations of international travel, tourism cities play pivotal roles in driving tourism development in their own countries.

The World Tourism Cities Development Report (2022) focuses on 100 sample cities worldwide. To make a scientific and comprehensive analysis of the sample cities, the report sets up 32 sub-indices and 61 component indicators from six perspectives (i.e. city popularity, industry development, urban intelligence, tourism safety, economic contribution and tourist satisfaction). It aims to fully and vividly reflect the development features of the world's major tourism cities and tourism industries in 2022, and to provide a better experience summary and enlightenment for the world's tourism cities and tourism enterprises, thus advancing the sustainable development of the global tourism industry.

As the world's first renowned international tourism organization focusing on cities, WTCF has published the series of World Tourism Cities Development Reports for nine consecutive years since its establishment in 2012, which serve as academic achievements that provide guidance and impetus for the sustainable development of world tourism cities, effectively promoting experience sharing, cooperation and exchange among world tourism cities.
