Helsinki joined WTCF in 2014 and the membership has already proven to be very valuable. It has been a significant channel especially for opening new significant opportunities for cooperation and enabling new business contacts.
I have participated in many events held by World Tourism Cities Federation, which are international with an abundant and down-to-earth agenda; all guests and participants are elietes of their respective fields. Such events build a great information platform for tourism news reporting, serve as an important window for us to understand the tourism development trend in the world.
Supported by WTCF and the Qingdao local government, it held many high level and influential activities such as China (Qingdao) International Cruise Summit and aroused huge attention from the industry. We will continuously support WTCF and the Cruise Committee via more involvement and contribution in the future.
Varna is the Sea capital of Bulgaria, with wonderful resorts, spa centers and mineral springs. Over the last year more than 10 low-cost airlines have opened direct lines from Varna to different locations around the world, which makes the city even more attractive and popular tourist destination.
Tourism development is very important for the growth of the local economy. In general tourism provides a substantial part of the employability, for example in Hague 10 %. The more tourists come the more the turnover of hotels, museums, attractions, restaurants, taxi’s and public transport will increase.
WTCF gives us the opportunity of promoting our city internationally as well as recognizing the important work Seville is accomplishing in the tourism industry during the last years. It also helps us to organize exchanges and cooperation with other members and to contribute to the development of world tourism industry.
Seoul is looking for more cities and international organizations to participate in the global campaign. Seoul hopes that the WTCF can also join the global campaign "Fair Travel Living Together " for the promotion of sustainable tourism in urban destinations around the world.
By becoming a part of WTCF, we will have contact with investors in the tourist sector. We’ll also be able to exchange information and resources and inject new life into the sustainable development of our own tourist sector.
We have (cities) gradually understood that we have to evolve from the old concepts of mass tourism, to a sustainable and much more personalized tourism, giving the visitor the opportunity to integrate and get involved in the daily activities that take place in our cities.
