Berlin International Film Festival

Berlin - the hub of art, culture, glamour, parties and business showcases the International Film Festival or popularly known as the 'Berlinale' every year with its pomp and glory. This famedevent takes place at Potsdamer Platz, Berlin and stands out to be the largest cultural event in the city. The date of the event is very much significant for the international film industry's calendar. Artists from around the world are attracted to Berlin as it serves as a backdrop for some of the greatest silver screen productions. The Berlinale witnesses more than 19,000 film professionals from 115 countries along with journalists and a large number of audiences. The festival conducts proper meetings and discussions for the film professionals and about 400 films of every genre, length and format are shown every year.

The Berlinale is divided into different sections starting from the big international movies in the Competition, independent and art-house productions in Panorama, movies for a young audience in the Generation section to the most exciting German cinema productions in Perspektive Deutsches Kino. The programme finally comes to an end with a thematic Retrospective and a Homage, which mainly focuses on the lifework of a great cinema personality.
