In the same period of this year, 55,044 Chinese tourists visited BiH, compared to 27,174 in the same period last year, which is a 102.4 percent increase, the report said.

Nearly 1.88 million overnight stays were recorded, an 11.1 percent increase year-on-year, with tourists from Kuwait staying 3.4 nights on average. Tourists from Ireland spent an average 3.1 nights, and those from Bahrein, Iceland, Latvia, the United Arab Emirates, Estonia and Ukraine 2.9 nights each.

The report highlights that Chinese tourists spent a total of 64,412 overnight stays in BiH during the first seven months of 2019, compared with 30,876 overnight stays last year -- an increase of 108.6 percent.

The arrival of Chinese tourists in BiH has been accelerated by a mutual visa-free regime, which took effect on May 29, 2018.

Domestic tourists accounted for 28.5 percent of the total number of overnight stays in BiH, and foreign tourists accounted for the rest, the report said.

The highest number of overnight stays (92.4 percent) was registered in hotels and similar establishments.

Tourism is a fast-growing sector and an important part of BiH's economy. In recent years, BiH has seen stable growth in the number of foreign tourists.
