The opera was designed with a simple and elegant style, especially the innovative stage-setting, attracting many world-renowned conductors, singers and other honored guests. Latvian National Opera used to be a neo-classical architecture built by an architect named Ludwig Bohnstedt in 1863, formerly a German city opera. For more than one hundred years afterward, it was renovated three times respectively from 1882 to 1887, 1957 to 1958 and 1991 to 1995. In 2001, the opera added a modern concert that can hold 300 people. Every year from December to June, large numbers of music lovers and tourists are attracted to come here from the entire world to enjoy more than 200 opera and ballet performances.
