Located on the south side of Castlehill at Royal Mile district in Edinburgh's Old Town is the Highland Tolbooth St John’s Church, which is now the headquarter of the Edinburgh International Festival-The Hub. The striking neo-Gothic style spire is the highest point in Edinburgh. This place holds various concerts, conferences, and even weddings throughout the year. There are three halls; the largest hall can accommodate 420 people. The Hub is jointly designed by local architect James Gillespie Graham and the famous British Gothic Revival architect- Augustus Pugi. When it was completed in 1845, it is called the Victoria Hall, the Scottish church meeting house in Scotland. 1995 Edinburgh International Arts Festival Society acquired ownership of the building, and after a thorough renovation, it was reopened to the public in July 1999. It was also a temporary alternative place for the Parliament before the Scottish Parliament Building was completed in 2004.
