Xihua Garden is located in the west (“Xi” in Chinese) of Kunming City. Xihua Garden gets its name from the many flowers planted in the garden. Hua, in Chinese means flower. The buildings in the Garden are shaped after the folk dwelling style of the Bai people. The buildings have three rooms and one screen wall, a courtyard with five yards, an arched gate tower with overhanging eaves, wooden windows and doors with wonderful carvings, and colorful paintings on the outer walls. Since its construction, Xihua Garden is famous for its orchids. It is now the largest orchid base in Yunnan province.
