Popular and busy, the menu innovates vegetarian versions of meat dishes: mock duck, pork and eel.
Gong De Lin is a more than 80 years old Shanghai vegetarian restaurant which underwent major renovations a few years ago (we still remember the old place), and it looks pretty good now. Yes, Gong De Lin is vegetarian, but it's really interesting. The "fake meat" is quite amazing, especially if you've never tried it. They make certain dishes look and taste like non-vegetarian food items. Gong De Lin is a great experience, at least once, simply to be impressed by how clever people are at making meat substitutes.
