Stop 1: exotic and artistic Shamian:

Shamian is a small island located in Baie Pond beside the Pearl River in southwestern Guangzhou.

The island has a dense growth of evergreen trees, and is known as a "retreat away from the world".

The island was previously foreign cocession in the 19th century and the early 20th century, thus over hundred architectures of European neo-Baroque style, Gothic style, neoclassic style, arcade style and other styles still remain in the island till today.

Taking Metro Line 1, and exitfrom exit D at Huangsha station. Then cross the pedestrian overpass and you will have the island within sight.
