Every year, nearly 3 million visitors can expect to see lanterns along the 1.2km Cheonggyecheon Stream with various things to see stretching all the way from Cheonggye Plaza to Supyogyo Bridge. The Hangang River carries great historical and cultural significance to Seoul, Korea, and Seoulites. Hangang means “large river,” and the river has been a vital part of the daily lives of locals over many years and generations. This year, the Seoul Lantern Festival aims to show elements of the historic, cultural, and everyday life of the Hangang River through lanterns. The entrances are arranged throughout Cheonggyecheon Square and Supyogyo Bridge. As it will be a wildly popular event and somewhat crowded at the site, it is recommended to not walk and use various other means oftransportation to get to and from the event, if possible. It will take about one hour to see all the lantern works.

There are many activities for the public to participate in, such as setting up wish lanterns, hanging a wish note, and more. There will also be food stalls and food trucks operating throughout the festival! Enjoy the lanterns, make a wish, and treat yourself to tasty street food at the Seoul Lantern Festival. You can book the activities in advance (2,000 won) or purchase it at the site(3,000 won). Assemble lanterns after getting it from the booth, write down your wishes, deliver it to workers and then put it on the Cheonggyecheon Stream.
