Copenhagen Cooking & Food Festival is an annual event which celebrates the culinary culture of Copenhagen as well as the whole of Denmark as a great food country.

The festival is for everyone who loves food, and hosts more than 100 unique events over 10 days at the end of August.

Our official theme, 'Breaking the New', signals that the festival offers unique and different dining experiences and showcases the latest food trends.

Every year some 80,000 festival-goers attend to celebrate Nordic cuisine, seasonal produce and other great culinary experiences.

The centre for Copenhagen Cooking & Food Festival is housed on Israels Plads in Copenhagen, and hosts all kinds of food activities during the 10-day festival.

BREAKING THE NEW

For the past 15 years, Copenhagen has evolved from being a gastronomically unknown capital into a world-class food metropolis. This turnaround was achieved through innovative approaches and the courage to blaze a new trail fronted by skilled food professionals and dynamic culinary pioneers.

Copenhagen Cooking & Food Festival celebrates this unique new standing, which has put Danish gastronomy and food production on the world map.

With Breaking the New as its umbrella concept, Copenhagen Cooking & Food Festival will be the flagship of Copenhagen as an international gastro-metropolis and the annual event where the food industry showcases its new ideas, initiatives and products, brings new knowledge to the table and gives centre-stage to Danish food in the form of new experiences.

The vision is for the festival to serve as a forum and melting pot for new trends, public debate, innovation and new business platforms within gastronomy and food culture.

Copenhagen Cooking & Food Festival has decided to commit to two relevant UN Sustainable Development Goals because we, as Denmark's most well-attended (and best, if we say so ourselves) food festival, have a responsibility and a unique opportunity to highlight and address sustainability issues surrounding food and gastronomy.

10 DAYS FREE FOOD MARKET IN THE CENTER OF COPENHAGEN

For the entire duration of the festival we will create a food market for you to enjoy in the heart of Copenhagen - more precisely at Israels Plads, right across from Torvehallerne. The food market will function as the festival center, where we will line up a plentitude of experiences and activities in the form of workshops and dinners, which will transform Israels Plads into a junction for food fanatics and curious food lovers. This makes Israels Plads the place to be if you want to explore the many facets of food.

It's free to visit our festival center but please note that certain events and dinners require tickets.

"At Home With..." is a unique concept during our festival, where you are invited to enjoy a freshly preparred meal in the homes of some of the best chefs and most interesting food personalities in Denmark. As a guest you're not only getting a delicious meal but you will also get the chance to get to know your host better. This just might be the most up close and personal dining experience money can buy.
